John Barlow, Grateful Deads 'andra' textförfattare är död. Som parhäst till Bob Weir blev han aldrig lika välbekant som Robert Hunter som ordsatte Jerry Garcias sånger.
Och ärligt talat är det väl många av Garcia/Hunter-titlarna som är Grateful Deads finaste och mest tidlösa alster.
Likväl skrev teamet Weir/Barlow ett flertal klassiker de också: Cassidy, Lost Sailor, Let it Grow, The Music Never Stopped, Throwing Stones, Black-Throated Wind, Mexicali Blues och andra.

John had a way of taking life’s most difficult things and framing them as challenges, therefore adventures - by their nature awakening and maybe even fun.
